Non-Tackle Football
Youth Football programs across the country are changing. For some players and their parents, the safety concerns surrounding traditional tackle football leagues can steer young football players away from the sport. The Aurora Youth Football Association is proud to be on the forefront of providing alternatives to traditional tackle-only programs.
Historically, Flag football was the only alternative to tackle football. However, the AYFA observed that transition from flag to tackle football was difficult for players who were not accustomed to the fundamentals of the traditional game.
The non-tackle league incorporates many of the same rules from traditional football heavy hitting and tackling, although proper positioning for transitioning form flag pulling to tackling is taught. One of the biggest advantages of the non-tackle league is that it incorporates an offensive and defensive line which is lacking in traditional flag football and is a major component of traditional football.
